I have a 1998 corolla and its been working great up to a couple of weeks ago. The car just turned off on me in the middle of the road the battery still works when I tried to start it up it just sounded like it was trying to turn on again but didnt go pass that. I towed it back home and after a couple of hours of leaving it parked the next morning I turned it on and it worked again it worked for a couple of hours only to let me down again. At first I thought it might of been the fuel pump so I changed that but no luck still nothing I have checked all of the fusses.

anyone have any ideas to what this might be?
thanks in advance

Assuming you are getting fuel (only way to tell for sure is fuel pressure test with mechanical gauge). Check spark out of coil packs, check injector firing with noid light.

Would this explain the fact that if I leave the car off for a couple of hours it will turn on again and work fine for a couple more hours only to turn off in the middle of the road.
Thanks

The only way to isolate the problem is to perform the tests when the event occurs.
Intermittent problems are very difficult to diagnose, and many times end up having parts thrown at the symptoms.
