Transmission problem
1994 Toyota Corolla Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I had my car parked, facing downhill, and when I went to start it, my alarm went off and wouldn't silence, I can't shift from park to anytrhing? Help me, also, it appears that my hazard lights are on and not showing in the car, but all four blinkers are going and my license plate light.

If this is first occurance, then parking "pawl" is stuck.

This locks transmission when park is selscted.

If you could get the car pushed back to let pressure off Pawl, you should be able to shift.

In the future use tires to hold on hill by turning into (or away from) curb, tires will hold car and relieve pressure on trans. Pawl.
