1992 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

hi my car has its shims in disorder. What effect it will cause. Can it lead to vacuum leak? MIL is not on but can my vacuum sensor be damaged? Sometimes aftter running for long my engine goes off and starts sfter several cranking. Can the vacuum sensor be responsible? Am planning to have the shims tuned up next week.
thanks for advice

Excessive shim clearence would cause a definate click, it takes a special tool set to remove shims, excessive clearence will also cause premature camshaft lobe damage.

Vacuum leaks will cause a high idle and this would most likely be caused by cracked vacuum lines, injector seals, or intake manifold gasket leak.

Proper shim clearence is.008 on intake and.010 on exhaust, shim clearence is measured on a COLD engine.
