1991 Toyota Corolla Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I want to change engine and transmission from 1991 toyota corolla to 1989 toyota corolla but was told that the 1991 is fuel injection and that the 1989 is carbulator so I would like to know if the wiring harness can be changed from the 1991 to the 1989?

Hi there,

I can't find any information on this conversion, but if you go ahead and attempt it, I feel that it will be a nightmare waiting to get you. You will have to replace the entire engine loom ECU and there is no guarantee that mating plugs on shared components are the same, I have had this problem with Honda. If it was me. I would not go down this road.

'89 was the transition year to fuel injection. You would want an '89 4AFE fuel injected engine. Should bolt up.
Just make sure if the original had EGR (or not), the doner has EGR (or not).

You would be better off transplanting a 90-92 engine and trans. Also make sure the trans. Is the same (3 or 4 speed auto).
