Hi, my car makes a "whoop" sound intermittently when I drive. It seems to be at any time and at various volume and pitch. I notice it more when I go from deceleration (foot off the pedal) to aceleration, at slow to average speed. Most people I've asked about it says it's the vacuum system. Since it doesn't seem to affect the performance of my car, it this something that I need to get repaired and how much should it cost?

Thanks for any informaiton you can provide.

Not to sound smart, but are you sure you have a 6cyl? The sound you are describing sounds just like a problem the 02 camry 4cyls have with their intakes.

Yes it is definitely the six cylinder. Do you have any ideas on evaluating the problem. Where do I go from here?

Check the air intake, air filter and vacuum lines. Make sure the hoses are on correctly. Years ago we used to take the air filter out for the hot rod sound
