1999 Toyota Camry 4cyl, not cranking

My girlfriend has a 99 camry, and its not starting. I'm not sure on the milliage, but she tells me, it act like it want to crank, but it doesnt. She had someone look at it, and said the timing jumped, i'm not sure if thats the case. I know she did mention that the car, when it was running, use to cut off alot, and the check engine light was on. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

The no start could be many problems. However the distributer is a high failure component on that model year. You need to get a qualified mechanic to see if it is electrical/fuel or spark.

No distributor in the 99 camry to check.

The timing belt can jump and/lose teeth. Hard to point any more w/o more info.

Again lostinmars is correct about the timing belt. It is also interesting because I have the same model with a distributer. WE all need more info to give a good qualified answer.
