1996 Toyota Camry Transmission question

Hi I was wondering if I could get any advice about my transmission. The problem is that I cant get into first or second gear. When I put it into first gear it feels like it is in third. I have noticed a clicking sound when I move the shifter left to right in neutral, and also if I am in third gear I can move the shifter from left to right as if I were in neutral.

Hi there,

This may be a fault with the two selector cables, I would check that the "C"clip that hold the cables in place at the gear box end are still intact and also check the gear lever quadrant as well for a fault.

I checked the cables they seem fine and the clips but what do you mean by the quadrant thanks.

Thats the gear stick and the mechanism that selects the cable.
