2000 Toyota Avalon 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 190000 miles
My Right Hand Side Mirror (Electric) was smashed by hail. How do I get it off to replace it, Please.
1.Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds from the time the negative battery was disconnected to start work.
Some models covered by this guide may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in .
2.Remove the delta cover; that's the triangular black inner cover. It can be removed with a blunt plastic or wooden tool. Don't use a metal prytool; the plastic will be marred.
3.Depending on the style of mirror, there may be concealment plugs or other minor parts under the delta cover-remove them.
4.Depending on the type of door trim, you may need to remove the door inner panel to access the electrical wiring harness for the mirror.
5.Support the mirror housing from the outside and remove the three bolts or nuts holding the mirror to the door.
6.If the wiring to the electric mirror was not disconnected previously, detach it now. Some connectors can only be reached after the mirror is free of the door. Remove the mirror assembly.
7.Fit the mirror to the door and install the nuts and bolts to hold it. Connect the wiring harnesses if they are on the outside of the door. Pay particular attention to the placement and alignment of any gaskets or weatherstriping around the mirror; serious wind noises may result from careless work.
8.If the wiring connectors are on the inside of the door, plug them back together and install any concealment plugs, dust boots or seals which were removed. Attach the door inner panel if removed.
9.Install the delta cover and install the control lever, if it was removed.
10.Connect the negative battery cable.
11.Cycle the mirror several times to make sure that it works properly
