My 1988 4Runner has been parked in garage for about 10 years. I just start it again in January 2nd, it was running fine until today I noticed lot of white smoke from tail pipe but temperature gauge look fine!
after 10 - 15 min later white smoke disappear. But still smell strong antifree from exhaust. Put my hand couple of inches from exhaust and my hand is soaked with moisture. I thought I had blew the head gasket and plan to place them. Check out internet for instruction how to DIY and found there were bulettin of recalling of Toyota head gasket. My question : Am I still qualify for this recall? If not will they supply material for DIY? And Do you have instruction or steps how to it?
Thanks you in advance.

That isnt a project for the faint of heart, or inexperienced mechanic.I would go to Toyota and talk to the service manager.I would think that that low of mileage they would take care of it for you, it was an inherent issue after all. Be firm that you want this done under this campaign, If the service manager wont do it, tell him you would like the number for the Toyota area rep. Im sure Toyota doesnt want to lose another potential customer right now
