Engine does not start when hot

The car starts fine in the morning (not on the dime though). After I drive it a while, if I stop for a few minutes the engine would not start. The engine seems about to start but it does not.

I have to wait for a few minutes (10-15 minutes or so before it starts).

Sometimes I remove and replace the gas tank cap and let air into the tank (I am not sure why I thought of doing this). The engine starts immediately.

You making me think! Vapor locking by doing the fuel cap-

Lets take a fuel pressure check on the fuel system-then will go into vapor lock-if you wish check the charcoal canister/purge valve
