Battery or Starter? 95 Sidekick

This past Sunday I went to start my car, which has always kicked to life just fine with out a problem. When I turned the key, nothing happened. No clicks, no buzzing, no cranking. Just nothing. It was as silent as if I had never turned the key. I thought maybe I had left my lights on and drained the battery (which I had done several times in the past 2 months), but the lights came on fine. So I tried jumping the car. Still nothing.
I bought a new battery, cleaned the battery cables with baking soda and water and still nothing. DOes this sound like a battery/electrical issue, or a starter issue?
I've never had problems with the starter before.

[stavy1129]went to start my car, and have not had any problems or symptoms with this before. When I turned the key, nothing happened. No clicks, no buzzing, no cranking. Just nothing. If the car sits for a while when I first try to start, I hear 1 click at front firewall, drivers side. There is also a electrical noise heard somewhere around front left side of engine, above solunoid and alternator wiring that enters engine. So I tried jumping the car. Still nothing. The headlights, wipers, etc, are all working as they were before without problems.
I have a 1995 suzuki sidekick JLX with 60,000 miles, its also a 16 valve engine. Seb1129@yahoo. Com
