1996 Subaru WRX nocking noise

1996 Subaru WRX Four Wheel Drive Manual 60000 miles
hey i have a subaru legacy 1995 with a wrx engine put in it buy previous owner am unsure what year. think its a 1996 and when it is started up for the first 30 seconds it has a nocking noise and it quietens down once driven but still there when taking off.
i think it may be the hydrolic lifters and was wondering what you guys thought and if it is fixable also rough cost thanks.
