rear differential

i have a 1997 subaru legacy L with a automatic transmission and i need to rebuild the rear differential can anybody tell me how to get the gears and bearings out of the housing so i can replace them and what tools i need to use

Hi there,

I would not attempt to do this your self, unless your a mechanic with differential experience or a VERY experienced home mechanic, set up tools vary and can be expensive, go get a re built unit of a second hand diff, re built units are expensive, because of the work that must go into the job. Have a good think about it.
