Gasoline fumes inside Outback.

2001 Outback; 133k miles, 1.9 engine.

We had an extremely cold snap here(Cape Cod)this week. I noticed a strong smell of gasoline coming up through the heating vents, but only when the car was idling or moving very slowly. No odors present when car was moving. No leaks at all visible anywhere. I had also just filled the tank when I noticed the fumes.
Today, with warmer(35 degrees) weather, no such odors.
Ideas? Thanks.

If the fumes are there when you fill up it could be from overfill. Found out that if you fill a vehicle when
it is very cold, then put it in a heated garage the gas expands and over fill can happen. There is more things it could be but this seems the most logical

Thanks, Mike. The odor has not returned. I had the car checked and no problem was found. The mechanic referred to an "o-ring" and said it seemed fine.
