LEGACY OVERHEATING

1990 Subaru Other

I HAVE A 1990 SUBARU LEGACY STATION WAGON FULLTIME 4 WHEEL DRIVE 2.2L ENINE. 197,000 MILES. I RECENTLY CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR BECAUSE IT WAS BUBBLING AND TEMP GAUGE GOES UP AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES. I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN. THERE IS NO WATER IN THE OIL, NO WHITE SMOKE, NO WATER DRIPPING FROM THE TAIL PIPE, NO LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE OR RADIATOR OR HOSES OTHER THAN THE BUBBLING INTO THE OVERFLOW CONTAINER. NO LOSS OF POWER.I HAVE BLED THE RADIATOR. THE LAST TIMING BELT CHANGE WAS AT 120,000 MILES - THE WATER PUMP WAS NEVER CHANGED. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
