Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Subaru Legacy All Wheel Drive Automatic 97,000 miles

Shop replaced alternator and belt 3 weeks back, but battery/brake light are again flashing. Belt looks very worn so back into shop, and they say they will replace alternator and belt again. Said something about a bent flange on one of the wheels? Anyways, they say water pump is now on its way out/leaking, etc and has to be replaced. Doesn't same belt run power steering, alternator and pump? And if so, could shop's faulty work first time around cause this problem I am now experiencing with water pump? I spent over $1,000 a few weeks ago, and now want to charge me $500 for water pump, etc. Are they at faulty? Help. Thanks

Shop replaced alternator and belt 3 weeks back, but battery/brake light are again flashing: Its not fixed its still flashing which an indication of a charging system problem.

Further if the water pump was leaking at then they would have seen it-who knows they just loosen it to make look like its leaking. My best advised get them to fix the charging system and get out of dodge before its too late-
