2006 Subaru Forester Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently changed the battery of the remote as it was not working to open and lock the car. After that with the remote control sometimes my car locks and unlocks and other times it does not especially first thing in the morning through the day i am able to lock and unlock it. What could be the problem? I am able to drive the car as usual though. Please advice. Thanks in advance
