My car is 1 month out of extended warranty and wouldn't you know it they now tell me that the head gasket needs replacing. How is it the head gasket is leaking when I have never had a problem with overheating, the dealer has always done all the work on my car and bingo this has happened.
It is a major problem for me as I am on a fixed income and they tell me that to repair it will cost about $1400.00 and I don't have that amount of money. I have no means to get it either.
How long can I drive it before it's too late? For $1400.00 I could probably almost replace the engine, true? Is this a known problem with my make and model?

Thats about the right price and if it is bad it is definetely needs replacing, or you can drive it till it completely blows. And then you can have it replaced.

Perform a cooling system pressure test and cylinder test to see if the head gasket is bad or if they are tryign to fleece ya.
