I went out yesterday started my van started then died. My husband put gas in below air breather, it started after gas runs out dies. He put fuel pump in. It started was running roughly, then died. Now its doing the same thing. If he puts gas in below breather it starts dies when it runs out. We had put on code machine before we put in fuel pump. Did not throw any codes. Pump is working.

Is the security light on solid or flashing with the key in the run position? Also what is the actual fuel pressure?

No security light is not on or flashing. (Did that once before with the other key.). Don't know what actual fuel pressure is. If he puts fuel in the breather it will run continuous as long as he puts fuel in. Was wondering if it would be one of the sensors or relays.

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue the fuel pump isnt providing the correct fuel pressure or the injectors aren't pulsing to provide the fuel for the engine to start. The first thing I would do is make sure the fuel pump is providing the correct fuel pressure to start.

Zhe put a brand new fuel pump in last night. The fuel pump is running. Also before he put fuel pump in. The fuel fuse was blown so he replaced it. Also book said to turn key on and let it sit in a run position and see if check engine light flashed. It flashed 10 times. It will start but will not stay running and I can smell gas. I think it would be one of the relays etc.

When you prime it it runs for a short time. Once in awhile you can start on own after it has sat but then it runs and dies. When it does that I can smell gas.

Alright when it will only run a prime you have a fuel delivery issue even though you installed a new fuel pump and can hear it run. You still need to check the actual fuel pressure? If that's good then I would check and make sure the engine has injector pulse? If it had the correct fuel pressure and was getting the injector pulse it would start and run. Running off a prime like that tells me its not thats how I look for fuel delivery issues on no starts to see if it runs off a prime.

So what is the actual fuel pressure? You can rent a fuel pressure gauge at autozone for free. Also what does the map sensor read with the key in the run position on the scan tool?

It was not the fuel pump fuse that was blown it was ip ignition fuse. He said that he can not find the place on this everyone keeps telling him about on fuel line to check fuel pressure. We are going to rerent scan tool. These codes was on the odometer reading.

I would guess it would be the instrument cluster fuse but if you get me the fuse number I can look it up and see what it powers.
