I hope you can help me with this problem. I have a VUE that was in a recent minor fender bender, driver's side headlight and bumper damage, no internals, ie, battery or frame damage.
I took it into the repair garage and they replaced the headlight and assembly, the bumper, and left fender.
I had it home a day and the battery was dead. Put in new battery and I get a ck engine light. The code calls out P1640, Output Driver Control Module 1/A Circuit Low Input. What could be the problem? Do you think a relay is bad, or loose connection. I just need a good place to start. It also breaks out to low coolant, ATFTemp Lamp circuit. Could this be a radiator sensor that is damaged or missing? Any help is appreciated.

Did ur car repair go thru ur insurance claim if it did then I would call ur insurance company and tell them the body work was done but since the accident and u picking it up after body repair that u had these thing happen battery died wont charge ur cooling light etc. Ur coolant bottle and underhood fuse box is on the driverside where the damaged happened the wires probably got cut from the accident so if ur insurance is paying for it have them finsh the repair. They will probably sublet the wire damage. When I worked for the saturn dealer I got all kinds of sublets from transmission shops and body shops. Let me know what happens.

The car was in perfect shape, but insurance wanted to total it. I ended up paying for it with out involving insurance. So I need to get the specific area the code is referencing so I can try and troubleshoot it myself. I am suspecting a relay or connection that may have come loose due to the collision. Please let me know what the code is pointing to when calling out; code calls out P1640, Output Driver Control Module 1/A Circuit Low Input and low coolant, ATFTemp Lamp circuit fault.
Thanks for your help

First of all thank u so much for ur donation that really helps.I looked up ur code p1640 in my saturn vue factory service manual and it only lists that code in the 4cyl emissions section not the v6 like u said u had. So I need to know if u have a 4cyl vue or a 6 cyl because if u have a cyl then we have to figure out what code u have because that code only lists for the 4cyl and it has 4 trouble trees for that code depending on what the scanner reads in malfuction history if the scanner u used even has ability. And theres 4 wire diagrams very small for each trouble tree and none of them lists ur coolant bottle in them. So please let me know what engine u have and we will go from there I have a full set of factory manuals for ur vue.

I'm sorry, this car is an elderly neighbors car that I am helping him with. It's a 4 cylinder, standard transmission.
I was able to go on Mitchel 1 and look up the codes, diagrams, and possible problems. My scanner is calling out a low coolant problem, but Mitchel 1 is calling out a possible AC relay, main relay, EVAP purge and or vent solenoids. Today I disconnected the battery, pulled the relay box and reseated all the cable connections underneath, reseated the purge solenoid connector, and reconnected everything back up. Started car and no engine light. After putting it in gear to backup in the driveway, the ck light came back, same code P1640. AC works fine, car starts and runs fine, just the ck engine light.
Thanks for the help!

Well mitchel 1 is right about what the code means thats the same as the factory manual the problem is without the data from the failure known as history data which u need a more advanced scanner or being able to read the engine data and see which of those things shows a short to volts and leads u to chart 1 2 3 or 4 its kinda hard to use the trouble tree for the code. Have u checked the 10amp a/c clutch fuse 10 amp emission fuse and the 15 amp etc fuses those fuses are listed in the wire diagrams for the four charts. Also if u had a scanner that had special test function u could open and close the vent solindo to see if that worked or cycled the purge solindo to narrow the charts down a little. So only the front was hit on the driverside? If thats true I would start around the fender head light area and look for damaged wires also check and make sure that all the 3 bolts in the underhood fuse box are tight also thats where u need to check those fuses at. Let me know what u find.
