It starts fine but after about 20 minutes of driving it just shuts off. What could be the problem?

When it dies will it restart right away or do u have to wait for it to start?if u have to wait how long do u have to wait?do u have a multimeter?any trouble codes if u don't know then go to a auto parts store an have them read them and let me know what the code numbers are.
