Manual Transmission. My car has never had starting before until about 2 months ago. I used to be able to start the car with the clutch pedal pushed all the way into the floor. Then I had to start having it about 2-3 inches off the floor.
About 3 weeks ago it stopped starting all together. I let it sit for about 2 weeks and then it magically started again. I still have to have the clutch in the "magic spot" to start.

Any idea what could be causing this?

So your talking about the starter not working unless you have the clutch pedal in the magic spot?If so check and make sure your floor mat isnt under your clutch pedal getting between the clutch pedal and your clutch switch. If thats good i would suspect your clutch switch do you have a multimeter?Let me know and a little more about your problem.

I checked the switch like you said and found nothing blocking it. I went ahead and changed it out for a new one (it only costs $7.)
It now starts no problem. I guess the switch finally became faulty?
