2000 Saturn SC1 IGNITION?
2000 Saturn SC1 Automatic 75000 miles
Sometimes after a short stop, for example to get gas my daughters car will not start. The battery is new, lights, etc. work, but no crank. We noticed the steering wheel does not automatically lock when the car is off and will not start at all if it is not locked. After waiting the car will eventually start.

when it doesnt start does the engine crank over?does the security light flash?i cant see how the steering wheel locking or not locking having anything to do with it starting it has a passlock sensor in the ignition housing but that only works when u turn the key on.let me know whats going on.also any codes?
