won't start

96' saturn SL1 won't start! I replaced the alternator, battery, and egr valve. i got it started but the gas peddle gets hard, the coolant temperture needle starts to jump, the rpm goes up but the car moves slow. i cleaned out the carborator but that did not fix the problem.
