idling very fast

I have a 2000 saturn sl car with 238,000. km. Idle speed is 1800 rpms, when it should be 800. The check engine light is on. What is the cause and how do we repair it?

I have the same problem,and I'm going crazy too, I have a 89 Acura legend and is overheating too.
I have clean the radiator,change the thermostat, water pump, and I even conected the fans direct so they will start when I start the car, and that car still overheating, at this point I don't know what to do.. either... I'm too going crazy....with this car...HELP any one...thank you :oops: :evil: [/b]

early year acuras have a very bad problem with the radiators so i suggest getting the fan switch on the bottom of the radiator checked or get a new one acura radiators are crappy, id buy an after market one.
