My SL 2 has 113,000 miles on it. I have begun to notice a slight whine that changes pitch as the auto tranny goes through it's shift sequences. The whine seems to be coming from the driver side area near the wheel or under the hood.
As far as I can tell, the cv joint boots look ok but could this be the indication of the beginning of a cv joint failure. I don't think it is the transmission as the transmission was replaced at 100k miles.
