my 1997 saturn sl2 check engine light is on. the garage said it means that i have a problem with 2nd gear. i do know that when you put the car in reverse, the engine revs up and then you have to really gas the car and then eventually the car will very slowly back up. we changed the filter and fluid and it didn't help at all. the saturn dealer said that there is a reverse solenoid inside the transmission that might need changed (cost about $700). IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHAT IT MIGHT BE PLEASE HELP IF IT IS THE REVERSE SOLENIOD DO YOU THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO JUST REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION (USED)
