HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THE ENEGINE IS RUINED IF YOUR TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT? LEAVING HOME TO GO TO WORK TURNED ON THE STREET, GOING ABOUT 10MPH WHEN I LOST POWER, HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT MY CAR AND THEY TOLD ME MY TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT, BUT THEN READING ONLINE ABOUT TIMING CHAINS SAW THAT IT COULD DAMAGE THE ENEGINE.
Do you
have the same problem?

Saturn actually issued a statement/recall on the timing chain issue. Not sure if the offer is still valid, but they would reimbursing for work that needed to be done as a result of the timing chain issue. We found this out AFTER our timing chain went out.

When we took it to the mechanic and he told us it was a timing chain failure. He looked in the engine to see how much damage was caused and determined that we needed a new engine.

You may have gotten lucky and only had minor damage and maybe they can re-build it, but that can also be costly. Let your mechanic take a look.

Good luck!
