Recently the wipers on my wife's car reset their resting position to in the middle of the windshield instead of all the way down, and then yesterday, they stopped working all together. Two questions: I am assuming this is a failure of the wiper motor, correct? Also, Looking under the hood, it doesn't look like I can reach the motor. Any idea how much this would run to get replaced?

I had the same issue on my 2000 LS1.
I replaced the wiper motor myself, it was not hard once you get assess to the motor. I found a replacement motor new on Ebay. I replaced the motor and had not had a problem since that was 40K + miles ago.

I would expect to spend around $400.00-$500.00 to have the work done at a garage.
