Shakes or Wobbles problem
2004 Saturn Ion 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 103k+ miles

I went to get a realignment on my car and they told me that there was a caster split. I was wondering how much the general going rate of fixing something like that would be, as they did not offer the service at their shop.

If ur talking about sloting the strut towers so u can adjuster the caster then for both sides to slot them it would be 1.2hrs times what ever shop labor rate is which is usually 80-100 per hr. Then u have to get it aligned. But if ur talking about something else let me know. Because I havent heard of a caster part only as a adjustment.

He said there was an issue where it probably hit a curb or something and that it would always be off some until it was fixed. At this point, I know that my wife hit a curb once pretty hard, but I am not sure if it is the struts or something else that needs repairing. When I apply the brakes it shakes pretty significantly and it is causing one of my tires to be worn on the inside wall.

When u hit a curb the lower control arm usually bends but without seeing it or knowing what is bent I really cant give u a price on how much it would cost to fix it. Usually when u brake and it shakes its usually brake related like warped front rotors or something like that let me know.

Well the brake pads and rotors are fairly new still, and when I got the alignment done the shaking lessened considerably, to where it was almost normal. I appreciate your answers, I should probably just do it the hard way and have someone look at it and price it out.
