2003 Saturn Ion New Engine Sound
Noises problem
2003 Saturn Ion Front Wheel Drive Manual 116000 miles
My car started to make a rattling sound in the engine yesterday. I don't have to be moving. Actually I can't hear it as much when I'm moving, but that may just be because it is being drowned out by the rest of the sound. I don't know if this makes sense, but the sound reminds me of a diesel.

judgeing by your mileage, it could be a timing chain noise. can you open the hood while it's idleing and see if the noise is coming from the left side / front of the engine ?
