1995 900se transmission issue--HELP!

I have a 1995 900 se 2.5 v-6 automatic. When I put it in gear,it kills engine abruptly.I have been told this may be a tcc solenoid problem. I am not sure how to find this part on the car. I would appreciate some help with this problem. Also,if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.I am open to trying anything. Nobody in my area works on Saab automatics ,so i am lost. Thanks for any help

I am not a Saab guy either, but if the check gearbox light is on, either steady or intermittent, it's not the TCC...Your symtoms seem more like the Gear Position Sensor...If you can get the code read, it will remove all doubt were to look!
