2003 Saab 9-5 Oil Leak

2003 Saab 9-5 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 113,00 miles
just bought a 9-5 with an oil leak (got it cheap). At first glance it appears to be from the oil pan, but after putting up on lift, it's wet much higher (up on block below head. I'm told there was an issue with the pvc, and I should do the #6 pvc upgrade. Any experience with this, could it be the head gasket, what should I expect to pay an indie for this fix, assuming the worst possible senario?
