2000 Rover 45 fault code 1335

Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Rover 45 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 60,000 miles

car runs ok on short journeys, but after 25 miles it becomes almost impossible to drive, sluggish, loss of power and barely able to go over 25 mph, fault code reads 1335 fuel pump sensor malfunction, have checked wires for chaffing where it comes out of pump down to sensor and they appear fine, I am told by rover dealer that they are prone to the ecu on top of pump and the sensor going down. Is there any way I can check where the problem lies

you would need the voltage/ohms specifications the sensors should be supplying to the ECU ...and check they are supplying the correct voltages etc. at the correct time's !!
