Can enyone help me?
i bought my rover 25 in november last year. It started to use water, seemed to be burning up through the exaust, I havent got any external water leaks. I took it to a garage they said it was the head gasket had gone.[There was no oil in the water and no water in the oil] I had to fill the water bottle up 4/5 times in 1000 miles of driving.
ive had the head gasket done now BUT.
now ive had to top the water bottle up 6 times in 130 miles. The garage said that it might be 1 of the wet liners that has gone.
is this possible? Or are they just trying it on,
and yes there is now water in the oil. They have told me that it would need a full engine overhaul.
the engine has done 60030 miles

Yes there is now water in the oil

Get it block and pressure tested to confirm a headgasket leak

Thanks
I had the head gasket dignosed and had it repaired last week on wednesday 21/1/09.
Since having it done the problem is worse.
Its gone from 4 water top ups in just over 1000 miles
and no water in the oil
to 6 water top ups in just over 100 miles and now theres water in the oil.
The garage says now its tje liners that have gone, wouldent they been able to tell this earlier. Or are they just trying to rip me off

Take your vehicle and get out of dodge or else they gonna milk you to the last drop out your pocket.

They should have caught that earlier if its diagnosed properly-

When they replaced the headgasket did they bother checking the head if its warped needing resurfacing then again anything is possible cracked head/block
