Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Rover 2 Series 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 91000 miles

Today I replaced the radiator in my 1994 rover 214 sei. All well and good - but when I went to go out and warm up the engine I found that the car would start - but then as soon as I lift my foot off the accellerator the engine dies - just cuts out. I 've never had this problem before.
The only things non-radiator related that I touched was the air filter which I moved to get to the bottom hose on the radiator and also the earth wires for the car which I replaced and seem fine.
the only clue I have is that when i turn the ignition off the some wierd clicking noises that come from the engine

any ideas please help!
