1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow starter switch

Electrical problem
1969 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 89000 miles

Replaced starter swich with comperable year, but there were extra wires that came from internal from the switch box. Did the exchange, one wire at a time, matching the colors. The car will not start, the solenoid does not engage, nor does the starter turn over. The lights work properly.

Hi there,

We do not have any info on this wiring problem, but you can work it out, there should be Power all the time, ignition feed acc feed starter feed, with a multi meter you should be able to work out what each switch wire does using the key position as a guide, if you do not feel that you can do this, a mechanic can check this out for you, with the steering lock off, if fitted you will be able to "hot wire " and drive to a work shop.
