My Parking brake snapped at the front of the car. Now when I drive I can hear the rear cables attched to the drums making a scraping noise. I need to remove these rear cables but I am not sure what I need to remove to get to them. DO I need to remove brake shoes etc.

Yo will have to remove shoes and remove cable by taking pliers and squeezing together the spreaders on cable or maybe a long enough socket so they will slide out from the back of the plate. We don't have any pics but once opened you should see what I'm talking about. Id did find a pic lol. See where the arrows are.

Awesome, hey thanks very much. DO you think I will need to jack the entire car up or can I get away with jacking up only the rear?

If I can;t do this myself, what do you think is a decent price for a mechanic to charge to remove both rear cables?

Thanks
James
