2007 Pontiac Vibe

Help!
The rear seat belt has a car seat caught in it and I cannot release the pressure to untwist it. It has the safety feature that once it is pulled out all the way out that it tightens until it is released all the way back and then it will pull out again. I released the buckle fine but was not aware it was twisted around a latch. Is there a trick?
