2003 Pontiac Vibe High idle on startup, 1900rpms+ engine ch
Engine Mechanical problem
2003 Pontiac Vibe 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 97,000 miles
Well, it's started up and idled high once or twice before, but i just shut it down, restarted it and it was fine. Today, it started up, idled at 1900(+/- 50) and the engine check light came on. Any ideas?

Scan the computer for OBD2 code/s this will tell what triggered the light to come on. The computer has identified a problem within the engine management system.
Or you can try cleaning out the idle air control valve and see what happens.

Sadly, i'm not a mechanic. I'm a guy with a messed up car, therefore, i do not have a diagnostic computer.. anything i can do without taking it to a shop and paying silly amount of money for them to do it?

Check Autozone if they're still giving free scanning of the computer this is your starting point of diagnosis
