1994 Pontiac Transport Repair Question

Master cylinder/abs
Brakes problem
1994 Pontiac Transport 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 145000 miles
My brake pedel has slowly started to go farther and farther down to the floor when I try to stop. I had the back brakes done and was told that the front brakes are fine. Somebody told me that I would have to have the master cylinder changed. They said it was going to be really expensive because the master cylinder and ABS system is all one unit, so I would have to replace all of it. Is this true? Or can I just change the master cylinder?
