i have a 1991 pontaic tempest and i think the water pump may have burst...i had a small antifreeze leak for awhile and would top up when low...and never had any trouble...but today it over heated and anti freeze was spilling everywhere and the steering wheel i had to fight with to move...could this be both power steering and the pump

you probably burst a hose going to the engine and it got the belt wet making the pump slip.if you can't see the burst hose, then have it pressure checked. to find it otherwise.
