REVISED LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraints (SIR) system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle.

4. Turn the ignition lock cylinder (1) to the RUN position.

5. Push the locking button (2) on the rear of the housing assembly (1).
6. Remove the ignition lock cylinder by pulling outward from the steering column.

7. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the ignition lock cylinder (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Connect the electrical connector (3) to the ignition lock cylinder (1).

2. Insert the ignition lock cylinder into the housing assembly (1) while rotating the key approximately 5 degrees counter - clockwise.
3. Install the steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - On Vehicle.
4. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.

IMPORTANT: Due to component variability, the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system must have the learn procedure performed regardless, even if the vehicle starts on the first ignition cycle after a VTD repair. All codes in the theft deterrent module must be cleared for a relearn.

If you replace the ignition lock cylinder, the system will enter the long tamper mode. If the system enters the long tamper mode, ensure that the system completes a long tamper mode cycle. During the long tamper mode cycle, the THEFT indicator will flash for the full 10 minutes. The instrument cluster and the PCM require the full 10 minutes in order to complete the learn cycle. Ensure that the ignition switch remains in RUN until the indicator stops flashing. If you turn the ignition switch before the indicator stops flashing, ensure that you repeat the long tamper cycle from the beginning.

Disabling the SIR System

1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the left Instrument Panel (IP) end cap.

Important: With the AIR BAG Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, The AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

5. Remove the AIR BAG Fuse from the fuse block.

6. Remove the left sound insulator.
7. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column.

8. Disconnect the driver yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column.

9. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the passenger yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column.

10. Disconnect the passenger yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column.

Sorry about not posting that part before to get the air bags back to working again just plug everything back in and put the fuse back in.

Password Learn Procedure

In order for a theft deterrent vehicle to run, a password is communicated between the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and the PCM. If a PCM is replaced, the new PCM needs to learn the correct password of the vehicle. When the new PCM is installed, the EEPROM calibration is flashed into the new PCM and the vehicle will learn the new password upon initial ignition ON. If the IPC is replaced, the PCM needs to learn the new password from the IPC. The password learn procedure is as follows:

1. Attempt to start vehicle, then leave the ignition ON. The THEFT SYSTEM telltale will flash for 10 minutes.
2. When the THEFT SYSTEM telltale turns OFF, turn the ignition OFF. Once the vehicle is running, the password is learned.

Did you do it like I just posted?Also why did you end up changing the ignition cylinder?

So you turn it to the start position let it come back and stay in the run position then the security light flashes 6 time's and stay's on solid?Do you wait till the security light turn's off from the solid position before trying to start?You should wait and see if the light turn's off if it does then try to start it but leave it off 30 second's before trying to start it.

Does the scanner you used to check for code's read body control module code's because that's where the code's for the pass lock fault's would be. What brand and model scanner do you have?
