I have a 73 pontiac grandville 455 and my starter recently went out. Right after it went out, my generator light turn on! So I replaced the starter and now it starts but while the car is on, the generator light goes off and while the car is off, the geneartor light goes on and stays on even without the key. What can the problem be?

Make sure the wiring is fully connected on the alternator if okay. Inspect and test the wiring from and to the alternator-there's an open wire-been here before
