2001 Pontiac Grand Am brake pads seem too thick

2001 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 175000 miles
Im trying to put brake pads on the front axle. They seem to be too thick. the caliper wont line up with the bolt holes. when they do the brakes are so tight the rotor won'turn please any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to push the brake pistons all the way back into the caliper to make room for the new (thicker) brake pads. You can do this with a C-clamp or sometimes a large pair of adjustable pliers.
