Possible transmission problem?
1995 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 176000 miles
Im trying to figure out whats wrong with my cousin's 95 grand am. The car bucks and surges at various speeds but never when just driving around town. It's always when highway driving. I've changed the fuel filter and air filter. A friend recommended unpluging the sensor going into the transmission to see if that fixed it but it only seemed to make it worse. The car hasn't set a check engine light at this point either. Do i run the codes on it anyway or is it something beyond my shadetree mechanics capabilities? Any ideas would be very helpful.
