Engine Performance problem
1989 Pontiac Firefly 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 250K miles

Car was running fine; recent tune-up. EFI 3-cyl Turbo. Car simply came to a stop like running out of gas, but tank full. Turns over fine but seems no fuel getting through? Any idea where the fuel pump & filter is located on this, model? Thanks.

Hi

check the fuel filter, its near the gas inlet for the tank but inside the body panel, you can get at it from underneath It is $10 and might be cloged after years of service saving your engine.

Also check your gas line for leaks, on a firefly that can't be too hard or any bad fuel ine.

Also check the fuel pump, if it was squeeling you may have burnt it out. Turn the ignition to on only and listen for a rushing sound. Finaly take the gas line off and check for gas flow -- BUT beware of gas it can exploded !
