1997 Pontiac Firebird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

i just replaced the iac valve and my car is now idleing at 4000 rpms and there are no damage vaccum lines and before I replaced the iac valve it was idleing at 3000 rpms when it was warm what else could it be

The only thing that can cause the idle to rise like that is that the engine is getting unmetered air into it from somewhere. That can be a vacuum leak, it can be the throttle plate sticking or the stop adjusted incorrectly or the IAC not working properly. You just have to figure out which it is.
The engine cannot run without air so the air intake is not being controlled the way it should be.
