1985 Pontiac Fiero 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

When car has been driven a while with several stops and starts, the starter fail to turn. I want to take it off and have it checked. I HAVE found it but I can't figure how to remove it. The book (Chilton) says just remove 2 bolts and drop it out. I can see only one bolt and I can't get a wrench on it. It does make a "loose metal" noise when the starter does turn.

Okay, first disconnect the negative battery cable. You will have to raise and support the vehicle in order to access the starter better. Remove the starter brackets or shields that may also be blocking access. Also remove dust cover if equipped. You should now be able to see the mounting bolts.
