Engine problem
2000 Pontiac Bonneville Front Wheel Drive Automatic 83000 miles

Hi

I replaced the fuel pump on my 3.8 2000 pntiac bonneville. I didnt drop the tank just used the acess panel in the trunk, now everytiime I fill up I get a strong oder from the right side of the car and in the trunk. What could be causing this? The filler neck, charocol filter, canister and all that is on the left side, could the o ring not be seated in there properly cuasing fuel to drip down the right side of the car, or is it all from the o ring and the vapors are just very strong. Keep in mind no odor from the left side of the vehicle. Only the right side and in the trunk.

any help would be apperciated. Thanks!

also, no signs of wetness under car or spots on ground

First thign to do is get under it and have someone fill it while you check the filler hose and around the tank for leaks around the fillter hose and tank see if its running to the right side, best thing to do is fill it up and look for fresh fuel.

I already did that. I saw nothing. I;m thinking its the o ring is not in place, should I remove the access panel and see if its wet and try replacing the o ring, it might have got pinched?
